Teen Abducted, Beaten, and Murdered as Five Face Shocking Charges

A devastating case out of Moberly, Missouri has left a community in shock after 16 year old Kayla Huff was found dead days after being reported missing on May 6, 2026.

What began as a missing teen case quickly escalated into a horrific homicide investigation. According to court documents, Kayla was violently beaten with a baton before being shot and killed, revealing a level of brutality that has shaken even seasoned investigators.

Authorities say the violence did not stop there. After the fatal attack, Kayla was placed inside the trunk of a car and transported to the Rudolf Bennitt Conservation Area, a remote wooded location in Randolph County. Her body was discovered there on May 13, 2026, around 8:00 p.m., ending a days long search that gripped the area.

Five individuals are now facing serious charges in connection to her death, highlighting the disturbing nature of what prosecutors describe as a coordinated crime:

  • Alayna Mason, 20 is charged with First Degree Murder and First Degree Kidnapping involving injury and terrorizing

  • Hunter Ames, 19 faces First Degree Murder, First Degree Kidnapping, and Tampering with Physical Evidence

  • Christopher Hull, 23 is charged with First Degree Kidnapping and Tampering with Evidence

  • Julian Mason, 26 faces First Degree Kidnapping and Tampering with Evidence

  • Skyler W. Powell, 24 is charged with Hindering Prosecution of a Felony

Investigators say Ames provided critical details, allegedly telling authorities that Kayla was killed after the violent assault. Those details are expected to play a major role in the prosecution’s case.

The courtroom was packed with more than fifty people, including Kayla’s grieving family, as the accused appeared before a judge. Several defendants requested public defenders, and multiple court dates have already been scheduled as the case moves forward through the legal system.

This case raises serious concerns about group violence, accountability, and how a teenager could be subjected to such extreme harm. The involvement of multiple suspects suggests a calculated series of actions that ended in tragedy.

Kayla Huff was just 16 years old. Her life was taken in a way no child should ever experience, leaving her family devastated and a community demanding justice.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Every detail could be critical in ensuring accountability for what happened.
